Children are involved in finding out about the world around us. The children are encouraged to take a practical investigative approach so the understanding and gaining of essential scientific knowledge develop together. Children are encouraged to raise questions, develop hypotheses, conduct investigations and draw simple conclusions. Specific areas of study include living things in the environment, electricity, forces, light and sound, the Earth and beyond and materials and their properties. Where appropriate, cross-curricular links are made and children take relevant educational visits.
